Invisalign® Clear Braces in Calgary SW

The Answer to your Dental Braces Problem

The idea of getting braces often fills teenagers with dread.

The same is true for many adults who may need to have their teeth realigned.

Our Calgary Invisalign services are a great solution to this problem.

What Is Invisalign?

Braces serve the important function of correcting crooked or poorly spaced teeth. The problem, however, is how intrusive braces are on a patient’s teeth.

We never want our patients to be ashamed of their smile, and Invisalign provides the same benefits without the aesthetic drawback of metal braces. Invisalign straightens your teeth by using a series of clear aligners that are custom-made to fit your teeth.

You will be provided with a series of aligner trays that over time will slowly guide your teeth into the desired position. These trays are made of smooth plastic which is almost impossible for others to see while you wear them.

Unlike braces, Invisalign is a comfortable, clear and a removable option that will transform your smile without disrupting your life.

How Much Is Invisalign Clear Braces?

Prices for Invisalign braces depend on the complexity and length of the treatment.

It can range from $2,497 to $9,997 based on estimated timeline and complexity.

Invisalign or Braces: Is Invisalign the Right Choice?

We understand each case is different, and these options should be thoughtfully considered before deciding.

Our treatment philosophy prioritizes the growth and development of our patients’ dental health.

Dr. Mostafa Altalibi considers various factors including airway flow and oral posture to determine a suitable teeth alignment treatment.

Early preventative treatment, minimal invasiveness, and myofunctional therapy practices allow our dentist to work with a wide range of patients to provide the best treatment possible.

How Does Invisalign Work?

1. Initial Complimentary Invisalign Consultation

The process of getting Invisalign starts with a consultation with Dr. Altalibi, our certified orthodontist. As an alternative, you have the option or requesting one of our general dentists certified in Invisalign.

During your first consultation, we will discuss whether Invisalign is the right choice for you, as well as provide you with further information on the process.

After the consultation, a digital scan of your teeth will be sent to an Invisalign processing factory along with a detailed prescription.

2. Aligner Customization

Based on the treatment plan and your dental records, a virtual 3D treatment plan is generated, which shows you the expected movement of your teeth from their current position to the desired final position.

Our dentist will then work with an Invisalign technician to develop the best plan for you based on your treatment goals.

This process could take a week or two to complete.

3. Receiving Your Invisalign Aligners

When the customization process is finished, you will receive a series of trays that will work to straighten your teeth over a period of time.

Invisalign aligners take a little getting used to and cannot be worn while eating.

A small amount of discomfort in the teeth is normal, but typically only lasts for the first few days a new tray is introduced. Speech may also be affected in the first few days of using Invisalign braces.

The aligners should be worn between 20 to 22 hours every day only being removed to eat or clean your teeth.

If the Invisalign trays are worn as prescribed, a patient can transition into a new tray about every two weeks.

Our orthodontist may also offer a few added tools to expedite your orthodontic treatment:

  • Micro osseous perforations (MOPs for short) are small dimples we place in the bone between your teeth to speed up cell activity which triggers faster tooth movement.
  • Vpro5 acceleration appliance is a high-frequency vibration appliance that is worn 5 minutes a day. Not only does this appliance accelerate treatment, but it will also reduce tooth pain during orthodontic movement.

Using both acceleration methods, aligners to be switched twice weekly instead of once every week to two weeks.

The aligners will gradually move your teeth towards their final prescribed position, which typically takes approximately 9 to 22 months. Compared to braces, which take 2 to 3 years to fully align teeth in some cases.

Benefits of Invisalign Clear Braces

When talking with our orthodontist, the patient will understand exactly what positions their teeth will be moving towards and how long the process should take.

Anyone who needs their teeth straightened can benefit from Invisalign.

Invisalign is fully removable other than the clear attachments that are sometimes placed onto the teeth to help in movement, for eating and special occasions.

Furthermore, brushing and flossing are much easier with Invisalign since they are removable.

Invisalign can fix all the same issues addressed with braces, including:

  • Teeth overcrowding
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crooked teeth
  • Teeth gaps
  • Crossbite

Frequently Asked Questions

Invisalign braces are made of clear plastic. They are meant to be worn for 20-22 hours a day, but you can take them out while eating, drinking, and while brushing and flossing.

The exact length of time Invisalign braces take to work depends on each individual case, however, you can expect the treatment to take roughly a year. You will have to see your dentist every six to eight weeks so they can monitor the progress and correct any problems.

If you want to correct your bite after having braces, but don’t want to go through the discomfort of having traditional braces again, Invisalign is actually a great option for straighter teeth, minus unsightly and uncomfortable metal braces!

Yes. People who come into the orthodontist because their teeth have relapsed after a round of braces often are not recommended to go for a new round of braces. What is often recommended is that they opt, instead, for Invisalign treatment. Invisalign is discreet and not as invasive as braces, allowing people to fix relapsed teeth in a way that is much less obvious than it would be with braces.

A misaligned jaw isn’t able to function properly, and the jaw muscles can become tight and sore over time. This can cause migraines and headaches, as well as facial tension and soreness that can spread to your neck and shoulders.

Invisalign can be more than just cosmetic. By straightening and re-aligning your teeth, Invisalign can help alleviate face and head tension and pain. Your bite is a key part of bone and muscle function, and dentists believe that a lot of pain in the head, neck, and shoulders can be alleviated if more attention is paid to the bite.

No. Since the aligners are clear plastic, lipstick, lip stain, and coloured lip gloss will stain them. This is something to consider if you’re used to wearing lip colour, as you will have to change this part of your makeup regime if you wear Invisalign.

Drinks like pop, juice, and alcoholic beverages are bad for your teeth and can also stain your aligners. Coloured, sugary, or acidic drinks should be avoided, and if they can’t be, teeth should be cleaned well before aligners are put back in. If you are drinking anything other than water, aligners should be taken out while consuming.

You should rinse your aligners after taking them out. They can be soaked using cleaners that are sold for dentures and retainers. In general, use a clean soap that is antibacterial. This is an easy option for taking care of your aligners.

Before you put your aligners in after eating, make sure you floss and brush your teeth. This is essential to your long-term dental health, and it protects the life of your Invisalign aligners.

While every case is different, in general, the short answer to this question is that, yes, you can still be considered a candidate for Invisalign. Invisalign can also be used after someone has had bridges, crowns, and fillings as well. With that said, your treatment plan will likely involve a little bit of compromise, the reasons for which will be outlined below.
